Today all of grade 4 were using our Library Catalogue to use ebooks. First they have to go to our library catalogue Destiny<\/a> which is available to them at school and at home https:\/\/iics.follettdestiny.com ~Each student has his or her own username and password to access the extra features of the library catalogue. They need to select Marmara Campus and then login. If they have trouble with the password they can get help at the library to reset it.<\/p>\n

To find our ebooks the students used the search term “Space” or “Planets” and then went to the menu on the left \u00a0to narrow their search. They go to format and select “electronic books” from there they can select the ebook that will help them. The ebooks we have purchased to support the Units of Inquiry can be used by everyone at the same time (unlimited access). Other ebooks – for recreational reading have limited access of one person reading the book at a time. Again all ebooks are\u00a0available\u00a0to our students anytime and anywhere they have an Internet connection. They must use their Destiny\u00a0Password\u00a0to access the book through our catalogue system.<\/p>\n

The other feature of Destiny we explored today was the Resource Lists. These are available through “Quest Home” Resource Lists can be created by students, teachers and library staff. They list the resources we have available for certain topics. Today we explored the resource List “Grade 4 Space” This list has resources from our library about the Unit of Inquiry and web sites that relate to the topic but have been pre selected by grade level by teachers.<\/p>\n

Destiny and our ebooks can be accessed on any computer. You can also download the free app for destiny from the itunes store or Google Play.
